Party political interest versus national interest
The Albanian nation is facing a grim political crossroads ...

In the last decade, Vlora has transformed into an enviable tourist destination and a strategic point for sustainable investments. With a coastline that embraces the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, a rare historical wealth, and a warm Mediterranean climate, Vlora has everything to attract tourists and investors, both local and foreign.
This transformation is not only a product of natural or historical values, it is also the result of a sustainable vision and the active role that local government has taken in guiding this development.
During the tourist season, Vlora pulsates like the heart of the south. The beaches of the Vlora Riviera, such as Orikumi, Radhima, Zvërnec, Palasa, Himara or Dhërmi, offer landscapes that are no less than famous Mediterranean destinations. Meanwhile, the natural beauties of the Vlora River, the Llogara Park and the Narta Lagoon, Karaburuni and Sazani, as well as the city's historic streets, constitute an extraordinary opportunity for the development of ecotourism and alternative tourism.

Vlora is no longer just a seasonal destination; it is becoming a city that welcomes visitors all year round.
However, Vlora's potential lies not only in its natural beauty, but also in its cultural heritage, the city where Albania's Independence was declared in 1912 is a historical center of national importance. This is an aspect that should be better integrated into the tourist offer to increase the length and quality of visitors' stay.
The Municipality of Vlora has taken concrete steps to turn tourism into the engine of the local economy. Through projects to improve public infrastructure, restore historic areas and create services for tourists, local authorities are setting a new standard for urban management of the city.

Vlora is increasingly attracting investments in infrastructure, hospitality, transport and services and on the strategic investment map, both in the high-end tourism sector and in infrastructure and logistics . The new Fier-Vlora axis road, the Vlora River road, the Llogara tunnel, the construction of the Vlora International Airport, the new tourist port and investments in modern marinas, but also the increase in investments in agrotourism are clear signals that the city is transforming into a regional economic hub and that Vlora will soon be at the heart of Mediterranean tourist itineraries.
Foreign investment has begun to show increased interest, especially from countries such as Italy, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. The presence of these investments means jobs, raising standards and knowledge transfer – but it also requires careful management to preserve local identity and the natural environment.
The Mayor has played an important role in promoting the city as an investment destination, participating in international forums, opening doors to entrepreneurs, famous artists, national and international cultural and artistic activities, numerous fairs, as well as guaranteeing clear and transparent institutional support.

Of course, development also faces challenges. The growth of construction, pressure on infrastructure, preservation of heritage and the environment are issues that require careful balancing. The Mayor has clearly stated that the development of Vlora will not be done to the detriment of the historical, cultural or natural values ??of the city. Urban management, environmental protection and ensuring sustainable development are tasks that require vision and coordination between local and central authorities. Meanwhile, the involvement of the local community in this development is essential to build an inclusive and authentic tourism.
The Mayor has stated that the Municipality is determined to protect the public interest, to enforce urban order, to create a clean, humane and livable city, by investing in:
• Creating a positive climate for private investment, with simplified procedures and open cooperation with businesses.
• Engaging the local community in decision-making processes, through public hearings and consultations.
• Special focus on sustainable development, maintaining the balance between urbanization, cleanliness and nature protection.

Vlora has entered a new phase of development. At a point where economic development, tourism and civic identity can be combined to create a new model of Albanian urbanism. To turn this potential into a long-term reality, a clear strategy is needed: to promote quality tourism, to encourage responsible investments and to maintain a balance between development and preservation of natural and cultural heritage. With such an approach, Vlora will not be just a holiday destination – but a symbol of a modern, welcoming and successful Albania. A beautiful city not only to visit, but a worthy place to live, invest and build the future.
