"The theatre of power is always greater than the theatre of law." George Orwell
In Albania, the separation of powers is dead. In its place, we have an absurd theater: Edi Rama appears on stage as the supreme judge, attacks judges and prosecutors, while the institutions that should protect justice remain silent and become complicit. This is not democracy – it is a farce with constitutional letters.
Rama, as the judge of the nation, does not accept any decision that does not serve his politics. Instead of respecting the court, he publicly shames it. Instead of waiting for the legal process, he announces his own verdict. Rama has become a judge, prosecutor and executioner at the same time. For him, the Constitution is decor, judges are an obstacle, the law is a letter that is undone with a status on social networks.
KLGJ – the scoundrel who trembles before the name of the Prime Minister
The reaction of the KLGJ is the next shame. Beautiful words, high principles, but without the minimum courage to say the name of Edi Rama. “Public or private subjects”, says the KLGJ. Ridiculous. When the Prime Minister hits you in the middle of the square, responding without mentioning his name is capitulation, not defense.
Even more worrying is the staff structure: the KLGJ and the KLP are filled with patronageists and people closely connected to the government. This is not a surprise, but it makes the theater even weaker and more ridiculous – the institutions that should uphold justice have become a mirror of the politics of the day.
Rama again – (unpunished arrogance) instead of retreating, he mocks them even more. He moralizes the KLGJ, gives lectures, tells the judges that they are not “evil”. In fact, he says it openly: “I am above you, I decide who is right and who is not.” And no one dares to tell him that he is trampling on the Constitution.
KLP – the notary of silence
The most shameful is the High Prosecutorial Council. Prosecutors were publicly attacked, but the KLP does not speak. Zero reaction. No sentence. No defense. The KLP has become the notary of the state's silence – not because it is independent, but because it has chosen to hide. Their silence is not neutrality, it is submission.
This is today's Albania: Rama speaks as the supreme judge, the KLGJ hides as a scoundrel, the KLP is the notary of silence. And it is sold to citizens as a "new justice". But this is not justice - it is a theater of shame, ugly, where the director is the political power and the actors are the institutions that have surrendered themselves.
In this theater, judges and prosecutors are no longer independent, but puppets. When justice becomes a puppet, democracy ceases to exist. And when democracy ceases, every citizen remains a spectator of a show that has no end, but only shame
