Without Berisha's "blessing", nothing happens in the DP
Sali Berisha

There was a lot of noise these days about the Salianji case, which brought together the most voted candidates from the May 11 primaries and open lists in a "working" cafe to discuss the "problems of the DP", the fate of the party and their actions, in the context of an analysis lacking from Sali Berisha and the leaders of the blue headquarters.

Many rushed to express that another anti-Berisha current was emerging. The lack of reflection from the blue leadership, after the heavy defeat in the May 11 elections, but also by not entering political candidates in the November 9 by-elections, was interpreted as a rebellion within the ranks of the Democrats.

The subsequent statements of Mr. Berisha, who was not at all concerned by this meeting, but also the statements of the participants in the "Salianji" meeting leave cause for suspicion.

Allow me to be skeptical and not be fooled by such movements, big words like “factions”, “internal democracy”, “resurgence”, “opening”, “strengthening and reorganization for a better political vision”. In the Democratic Party, for more than three decades, everything happens only with Berisha’s blessing. Without him, not even the leaves of the trees in the headquarters yard sway. And any “different opinion” is a facade to make people believe that the spirit of debate still exists in the DP.

Let's put it bluntly: Does Salianji, or anyone else, dare to start an internal movement without being in line with Berisha, without winking at the leader?

Absolutely not! If they dared, they would be declared traitors, they would be publicly executed with language, with slander, they would end up muddied, labeled, anathematized for up to "7 generations" just like Basha, who had a main sin: he dared to say "no" to Berisha. From that moment on, he became an "enemy of the people", "hostage of Soros", "embassy loophole", "villain", "traitor", "lock" "lock", just because he tried to save the DP from a cult that has been swallowing it for years.

What happened next with Basha is known: After the public crucifixion, he handed over the party on a silver platter to the very person who declared war on him.

In the DP, every "internal critic" is in fact a scheduled oppositionist, who speaks only as much as is allowed, only as long as he does not disrupt the eternal leader's work. And when someone tries to open his mouth or act more than necessary, his fate is predetermined: lynching, smearing, expulsion...

Today, the DP is a party where no one has a voice; movement, freedom! Everything happens only with the permission of the owner.

The DP is not an open party, but a (royal) court where everyone moves with lowered eyes, measuring the breathing of the “historical leader.” Those who appear as critics are in fact simply extras who play the role of the internal opposition within the limits tolerated by Berisha himself.

Let's not pretend that we don't have eyes, ears, and minds to see, hear, and understand: "different opinions" in the DP are "different opinions with permission and within permitted limits," as much as the main purveyor of intra-party conflict allows.

The truth is bitter: In the DP there is only one opinion: Berisha's opinion. The others are blind tools of a closed political scene, self-censored politicians whose freedom of thought, action and speech ends where his shadow begins.

And, until this changes, the DP will continue to be what it is today: not a party, but a family-run KPS; a refuge of old authoritarianism, imitating democracy; not an opposition, but a reminiscence of an era, which does not leave the country even though it has long since left the scene./ CNA
