Korça, the heart that beat strongly for the Albanian language

The first light of knowledge began in this city, with the opening of the First Albanian School in 1878, where children heard the pure sound of Albanian for the first time on the school benches.

There the seeds of national education and love for our language were planted.

Years later, in 1910, Korça again became the scene of one of the most powerful moments in our history. The “Letters Rally” brought together thousands of Albanians who stood up in defense of the Albanian alphabet, in the face of every attempt to replace it.

Amidst emotions and determination, at that gathering, the verses of the "Alphabet Hymn" rang out for the first time, as an oath for our language and identity.
