Erion Veliaj's claim

In point 135, Veliaj says that prosecutor Ols Dado obtained a building permit from the Municipality of Tirana and then requested an addition to the permit and this was refused.

While in point 136 of the document without a seal and signature, Erion treats this as a matter of "revenge" on the part of prosecutor Ols Dado, because, according to him, he was not granted a construction permit for the addition after he made a request.

Mero Baze's claim

Mero Baze says that, according to him, the investigation against Veliaj is being insistently requested by a prosecutor, who months ago had a personal conflict with him, regarding his requests for a construction permit outside the legal criteria that the municipality had.

The Criminal Court of Kosovo has issued a verdict for an 8-year prison sentence for Emiljan Burba.

Burba is accused of drug trafficking and is the organizer of a structured criminal group.

He was tried in a summary procedure.

Announcement of the GJKKO:

1. The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has submitted to the Court the request with the subject: "Sending to trial case no. 159, of 2024, with the defendant Emiljan Burba, accused of committing the criminal offense of "Drug Trafficking", in collaboration in the form of a structured criminal group, "Structured Criminal Group", provided for by articles 283/a/1, 28/4, 333/a/1 and 334/1 of the Criminal Code".

2. The trial of this case was conducted under the rules of summary trial. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with a panel composed of judges Erjon Bani, Elsa Ulliri and Erjon Çela, with decision no. 59, dated 24.09.2025, decided:

1. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant Emiljan Sofo Burba, for committing the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics" committed in the special form of cooperation, that of a structured criminal group, "Committing criminal offenses by a criminal organization and a structured criminal group" provided for by Article 283/a/1 of the Criminal Code and in connection with Article 28/4 and 334/1 of the Criminal Code, his sentence to 12 (twelve) years of imprisonment.

2. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant Emiljan Sofo Burba, for the criminal offense of "Structured criminal group" provided for by Article 333/a/1 of the Criminal Code, and his sentence to 3 (three) years of imprisonment.

3. Based on Article 55 of the Criminal Code, in concurrence of sentences, the defendant Emiljan Sofo Burba is sentenced to a single sentence of 12 (twelve) years of imprisonment.

4. Pursuant to Article 406/1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the defendant Emiljan Sofo Burba is reduced by 1/3 (one third) of the sentence given, being finally sentenced to 8 (eight) years of imprisonment.

5. The defendant Emiljan Sofo Burba shall serve his sentence in a high-security prison, in compliance with Article 16, point 1, letter “a” of Law No. 81/2020.

6. The seized items shall remain part of the court file and shall remain in storage for the purpose of the criminal proceedings separated with no. 159 of 2024.

The Prefect of Tirana has officially sent the proposal to the Council of Ministers for the removal of Erion Veliaj from the post of mayor of the capital city.

The proposal was approved yesterday by the Tirana Municipal Council.

It is learned that the government will meet tomorrow, where Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj is expected to be present.

The Members of the Albanian Parliament have today approved several draft decisions regarding the Standing Parliamentary Committees.

Specifically, the composition of the Assembly's standing committees was approved, with 94 votes in favor, 3 abstentions and one against.

The Assembly deputies also approved the draft decision on the appointment of substitute members to the standing parliamentary committees, with 87 votes in favor, 4 abstentions and 2 against.

In today's session, MPs also approved the appointment of the chairmen of the standing parliamentary committees with 83 votes in favor, 2 abstentions and 1 against.

Prime Minister Edi Rama will convene a meeting today with cabinet ministers and Tirana district deputies.

It is learned that the Socialists' meeting will be held at 6:00 PM at the Prime Minister's Office.
