A little while ago, opposition MP Mesila Doda decided to run as an independent MP, moving away from the names that received mandates from the closed list of the DP, under the acronym PDIU./ CNA

The Chairman of the "Albania Becomes" Movement, Adriatik Lapaj, has made a statement to CNA regarding the elections in the Municipality of Tirana.
Asked by CNA whether he himself or another name from the party will run for mayor of the capital, Lapaj states that the positions are institutional and the day the "Albania Becomes" Movement has a position, it will make an announcement to the media.
" The movement has institutional positions. The day we have a position on this, we will announce it to the media through our leader, Ms. Haklaj ," Lapaj told CNA./ CNA
Mesila Doda will be an independent MP in the Albanian Parliament.
The decision comes after Doda received her parliamentary mandate from the May 11 elections, having been placed on the safe list by Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha. The latter gave seats on the safe list to allies.
Mesila Doda ran on the closed list in Tirana with the Justice, Integration and Unity Party led by Shpëtim Idrizi.
Doda will now be an independent MP, as unlike other allies who have borrowed MPs from the DP to form parliamentary groups, she has refused. /CNA

The chairman of the "Thurje" Initiative, Endri Shabani, in a statement to CNA, spoke about the situation in the Municipality of Tirana and whether his party will run for mayor.
Shabani, who is also part of the Tirana Municipal Council, said in his reaction that he initially expects to proceed with the dismissal of the current mayor, Erion Veliaj.
A request that Shabani has made since February of this year. Further, the member of the Municipal Council said that Veliaj's impeachment and the announcement of early elections are expected, after which the role of Nisma in the elections will be discussed.
Shabani stated that the process for Veliaj's dismissal has been delayed as he should have been dismissed three months after his arrest.
" I am a member of the Municipal Council and I expect the other members of the Municipal Council to proceed with the request that I made in February of this year, to dismiss the mayor. After we dismiss the mayor, early elections will be announced. Then we will have time to discuss what our role as the Initiative will be and who the candidates will be. For the moment, we need to make sure that we have elections, because it is still unclear why it has been postponed so long. The law has forced us to dismiss the mayor, 3 months after February 10. There is a delay in this process. So everything in its own time ", said Shabani.
Asked by CNA whether he will personally run for the Municipality of Tirana or whether it will be another name from the "Thurje" Initiative, Shabani said that a party meeting will be held next week where the role they will have in the elections for the municipality of the capital will be discussed.
" It is certain that the role of political parties is to participate in the elections. Undoubtedly, we as Nisma will discuss the role that we will play in these elections. As a member of the Municipal Council, it is important for me that the municipality is not without a mayor. It is unacceptable that for 7 months the capital of Albania has been left without a mayor.
"Next week there will be a normal party meeting, we will discuss the role we will play in these elections ," Shabani declared to CNA.

Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Brussels, where he was also present at the European Parliament.
In his speech in honor of the end of the mandate of the President of the European Economic and Social Committee, Oliver Röpke, Rama focused on the role of the European Union for the Western Balkans.
Rama emphasized that the future of the Western Balkans lies in the EU and that the entire region, which includes Albania, is charged with this journey.
"The strength of Europe lies in the people. Social dialogue is not a luxury. The EU is not only a common market, but also a market economy. We also need a shelter of protection for the most vulnerable. The future of the Western Balkans is in the EU. It is not political fanfare on my part, but moral nourishment. We are very grateful. We are charged with integration. We have opened 4 more chapters, in addition to the 24 open chapters, which have been waiting for years. The waiting and the dialogue that is being drafted here serves the citizens. It has to do with the collectivity, but also with the leaders. In the end, everything comes down to the one who is able to unite people and bring something sustainable," said Rama. /CNA
