American researchers: Sex toys release chemicals that destroy hormones

American scientists have warned that most sex toys on the market are not properly assessed for health risks.

A team from Duke University has discovered that ingredients in sex toys can be toxic.

Plastic, silicone, rubber or latex material interacts with the most sensitive membranes of the human body during use.

The researchers point out that these tissues can rapidly absorb these chemicals.

The new research , published in the scientific journal Microplastics and Nanoplastics, also found that sex toys used in the country contain phthalates.

This chemical, which is harmful to health, is known to be used in toys, food packaging materials, stationery and various industrial products.

High levels of exposure to this chemical are said to damage the liver, kidneys, lungs and even the reproductive system.

Phthalates are also one of the most well-known hormone-disrupting chemicals. It is said that these materials can cause infertility, especially in women.
