With 80 kg of cocaine from Ecuador/ 2 Albanians arrested in Spain

A joint operation by the Civil Guard and the Customs Surveillance Service at the port of Vigo in Spain has arrested two Albanian citizens. According to Spanish media, they attempted to smuggle a refrigerated container loaded with more than 80 kilograms of cocaine from South America.

An X-ray scanner revealed unusual compartments in the refrigeration system, where some of the drugs were hidden.

The discovery led to a wider investigation focused on an Albanian criminal organization with operations in several European countries. According to information, this group is part of an international network dedicated to importing cocaine from Ecuador and Colombia using the "blind hook" method: hiding the drugs in containers with legitimate goods without the knowledge of the exporter.

During the operation, agents seized 61 packages of narcotics, four large sports bags and various cutting and drilling tools, including a drill, cable ties and a folding ladder. A vehicle suspected of being used by the detainees to enter the port area was also seized. /CNA
