Criminal group trafficking firearms in Tirana is hit, two people are arrested

Another case of firearms trafficking and sale has been cracked by the Tirana Police, after a two-month investigation conducted with proactive methods in cooperation with the Prosecution Office.

As part of the police operation codenamed "Rotondo", the services of Police Commissariat No. 4 arrested two citizens red-handed while transporting firearms in a vehicle. DJ, 31 years old, resident of Shkodër, and F. Gj., 22 years old, resident of the village of Domje, were arrested.

The "Volkswagen" vehicle, driven by the 22-year-old and carrying the 31-year-old passenger, was stopped for inspection in the area known as "Freskut District", in cooperation with the Special Operations Force of the Tirana Local Police Directorate.

During the search of the vehicle, the police found and seized 6 SigSauer brand firearms, which were suspected to have been trafficked from Montenegro with the intention of selling them mainly in the Fresku area. Along with the weapons, the vehicle and 4 mobile phones were also seized.

Following the investigation into this criminal activity, the police have identified and declared a suspected accomplice of the arrested, citizen ES, wanted.

Authorities say that work to capture him is ongoing, while investigations, under the direction of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, are continuing to identify other people who may be involved in this case./ CNA
