Albanian arrested in Italy/ 43 kg of cocaine seized

An Albanian man has been arrested by Italian police after being caught transporting a large quantity of narcotics. According to Italian media, during the checks, police authorities found and seized 43 kg of cocaine in the Albanian's vehicle, which amounts to 2 million euros based on the market value.

After the searches, the police found about 40 packages of cocaine inside the car, each weighing about 1 kilogram. The search was then extended to the arrestee's apartment and another vehicle owned by him, where 1 kilogram of cocaine and 10 thousand euros in cash were found.

The operation carried out on the A1 highway, in the area between Lodi and Piacenza, was carried out on April 10, but Italian media report that the police announced it only the day before (April 30).

This is the second seizure made by traffic police along the highway in just a few weeks: at the end of March, another law enforcement operation resulted in the seizure of 2 kilograms of cocaine after a pursuit that lasted over 30 kilometers. /CNA
