Vucic: Taiwan is China

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, told the Chinese television network, CGTN, that Taiwan is China's territory and that it is up to China to decide what to do with it.

When asked about the issue of this territory, Vucic said that he does not need more than ten seconds to answer.

"Taiwan is China and it depends on you what, when and how you will act with it. Point", Vucic said.

China treats Taiwan as its renegade territory, while Taiwan sees itself as a sovereign state.

Vucic said that Serbia's policy is "a China" and that it will continue to be so in the future.

"It is your territory, it is your people. You are a sovereign country, you make the decisions. You will always have the support of the Serbian people", he added for CGTN.

Serbia counts on China's support in international organizations and institutions, regarding the non-recognition of Kosovo as a state.

Serbia is negotiating its membership in the European Union, but, at the same time, it is also strengthening relations with China, with which it cooperates in the field of infrastructure and defense.

China and Taiwan have had separate governments since the end of a civil war in 1949.

Beijing has long sought to limit Taiwan's international activities.
