Trump revokes security clearances for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris

United States President Donald Trump has revoked the security clearances of his former rivals Kamala Harris and Hilary Clinton, as well as several other former officials.

This move follows Trump's previous decision to revoke the security clearances of his predecessor Joe Biden and his family members.

" I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to have access to classified information ," Trump's memo said.

Former US presidents and top security officials usually keep their security clearance for courtesy.

Former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former Republican lawmakers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger were also on the list of those who lost their security clearances - as was Fiona Hill, a former adviser on Russian affairs in the first Trump administration.

The other names were: Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, Andrew Weissmann and Alexander Vindman.

Trump had previously revoked security clearances for former intelligence officials, whom he accused of interfering in the 2020 election in favor of Biden./ CNA
