The Chairman of the KLA War Veterans Organization, Hysni Gucati, has stated that the protests against the Special Court have had a positive effect.

In an interview with media in Kosovo, Gucati said that the protests against former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and former KLA leaders have brought about visible changes within the court.

"The protests have had their effect in a positive way, this is information that we have received from the defense of the group, Thaçi and others, that it has had a very good effect. And some things have also begun to have a drastic change within the court. Thaçi is being allowed to speak on 'zoom' with his family ," said Gucati.

He wished that the trial in The Hague against them would be finalized with a positive result.

"I hope that in late spring we will celebrate their release," he said.

We recall that protests called by the KLA War Veterans Organization were held in Skopje and Tirana. The purpose of the rally was to express dissatisfaction with the trial of former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.

The trial against Thaçi, Veseli, Krasniqi and Selim began in 2023 and is nearing completion. All of them deny charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity before and during the 1998–1999 war. /CNA
