The eight jewels worth 88 million euros stolen a few months ago from the Louvre Museum have still not been found, although French authorities have arrested the four perpetrators of the spectacular theft.

"The investigations have not yielded any new data ," said Paris prosecutor Laure Bekou, nearly three months after the daytime robbery.

But she stressed that the issue remains a top priority for the authorities.

"Our main goal remains the recovery of the jewelry ," she stressed.

The prosecutor also said that investigators are keeping all possibilities open regarding the fate of the precious jewelry.

"We have no indications that the jewelry was taken out of the border, however, nothing can be ruled out ," she said.

Authorities used contacts with intermediaries in the art world and internationally as part of the investigation. She said these networks have ways of identifying red flags about circles that accept stolen objects, even abroad.

A fifth suspect, 38 years old, a partner of one of the accused, has been charged with collaboration, but has been released under judicial supervision pending trial.

"We have not said our last word. It will take as long as necessary," the prosecutor concluded. /CNA
