"The Albanian state is not good"/ Shehi: We are governed only by

Politician Dashamir Shehi commented extensively today on the development of the Albanian state over the last three decades in the country. 

In an interview with 'Euronews Albania', Shehi expressed criticism of the state built after the '90s, due to the weaknesses carried over from the dictatorship.

According to Shehi, Albania is in a state where it is no longer governed by institutions, but by individuals, like Rama and Berisha.

 "The Albanian state is not good, unfortunately it has never been good in these 30 years. In '92 we had a somewhat good start to building another state. Time showed that that generation had the power to overthrow the other side, the dictatorship. We were capable. In order to then build democracy, we showed that we had all our weaknesses and today I see that the Albanian state is limping in many things.

Albanian society and politics have not liked the state because the state is actually a roof where everyone fits in, it must protect everyone, and at the same time impose some restrictions, and these restrictions have never pleased the leaders of Albania.

Albania is governed by people, not by institutions. Those attempts that Ahmet Zogu made to build some institutions had some successes, they achieved something. Enver Hoxha built a state, but a state for himself, now in our period, we started with the desire that we would create a state with independent justice, the parliament to have control over the government and not the opposite, and we failed in many elements.

The peak of Albania's failure was '97, that time showed that the institutions were not capable of defending themselves. It started all over again with another Constitution in '98, which showed all its gaps.

"We are no longer governed by Constitutions or independent institutions, we are practically governed by two people, Rama and Berisha," Shehi said. /CNA
