US, EU accuse Russia of using energy supply as a weapon

A White House official on Monday accused Russia of using energy as a weapon after it halted the flow of gas through the Nord Stream 1 pipeline and said US sanctions against Moscow do not impede the operation of the pipeline, which is Europe's main supplier.

"Russia is using energy as a weapon and is choosing to shut down the pipeline," the official said. Russia blamed Western sanctions for gas supply problems.

"SHBA dhe Evropa kanë bashkëpunuar për të siguruar sasi të mjaftueshme gazi. Si rezultat i këtyre përpjekjeve, Evropa do të ketë furnizim të plotë deri në sezonin kritik të ngrohjes dimërore. Kemi më shumë punë për të bërë", tha zyrtari.

Edhe Evropa e ka akuzuar Rusinë se po përdor furnizimin me energji si armë, në shenjë hakmarrjeje për sanksionet perëndimore të vendosura ndaj Moskës.
