The countdown to the grueling six-week campaign for the ruling Conservative Party to elect a new leader has already begun, with Britons now faced with a choice between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss.

The winner of the election will be announced on Monday at 12:30 BST (17:00 IST) by the chairman of the 1922 Committee of Tory MPs Sir Graham Brady.

The two candidates in the race will find out about 10 minutes before the public announcement which of them has been ranked first in 10 Downing Street.
