The Government of Kosovo has approved the decision to send a contingent of the Kosovo Security Force on a peacekeeping mission to the Falklands Islands.

In the meeting held electronically on November 29, the Government said that this decision will be sent to the Assembly of Kosovo for approval, so that the members of the KSF can participate in this mission.

If the deputies approve this decision, then this would be the second mission abroad of KSF members.

“Misioni i FSK-së do të jetë në mbështetje të paqes në Ishujt Falklands dhe gjatë këtij misioni do t’i nënshtrohet marrëveshjes së nënshkruar me Mbretërinë e Bashkuar. Në këtë mision do të dërgohen deri në 7 pjesëtarë të FSK-së dhe ky mision mund të zgjasë deri në tre vjet, me mundësi vazhdimi”, u tha në njoftimin e ekzekutivit.

Misioni i FSK-së do të mbulohet financiarisht nga buxheti i Kosovës, ndërkaq pjesëtarët e saj do të jenë nën komandën e forcave të armatosura të shtetit pritës.

Kosova dhe Mbretëria e Bashkuar në shtator të vitit 2022 nënshkruan marrëveshjen për bashkë-zbarkime të forcave të tyre në misione ushtarake jashtë këtyre dy shteteve.

Ateworld, Kosovo officials said that the signing of the agreement "strongly reaffirms the full credibility of the United Kingdom and its Government in our Ministry of Defense and the capacities of our forces".

Kosovo has an agreement with the United States for the joint engagement of military forces in various missions.

Through this cooperation, with American troops, in 2021 a KSF contingent was sent to Kuwait - the first mission abroad.

The KSF has close to 2,500 regular troops and 800 reservists. The number of its regular forces is expected to double when the transformation process is complete.

The Kosovo Security Force has started the process of complete transformation into an army in 2018. This process is expected to last ten years./ REL
