After 7 years of interruption/ US reopens diplomatic mission in Venezuela

The US has reopened its diplomatic mission in Caracas, which had been closed for 7 years, after severing relations with Venezuela in 2019.

Laura Dogu, the US representative for Venezuela, arrived in Caracas to lead this reopening and assured that she and her team are ready for work.

This step comes almost a month after a US military operation that led to the ouster of former President Nicolas Maduro.

The reopening of the mission marks a milestone in the gradual normalization of bilateral relations between the US and Venezuela.

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister said that the diplomat's arrival is part of a joint agenda to work on issues of bilateral interest and to resolve differences through diplomatic dialogue with respect and based on international law. /CNA
