Saudi media: Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is not in Iran

Saudi media outlet 'Al Hadath' reported this Sunday, citing an Israeli security official, that Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is not in Iran.

According to the report, the new leader's complete detachment from events on the ground means that all recent statements and written messages issued in his name are false.

The news has also raised speculation that the messages were, in fact, being crafted by the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Ahmad Vahidi, and other senior figures in the organization, who were trying to create a false impression of control and continuity.

Khamenei, who was appointed supreme leader shortly after his father was killed in US-Israeli strikes on February 28 and has since communicated only through written statements, has not made any public appearances. /CNA
