Over 400 Ukrainian drones attack Moscow region/ Several people injured

More than 400 Ukrainian drones were launched overnight toward the Moscow region, according to Russian authorities. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced that most of the unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down by Russian air defenses before reaching the capital.

According to him, 85 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow, while the rest were neutralized at a greater distance. As a result of the attack, at least six people were injured and taken to Domodedovo hospital, south of Moscow. Authorities have not clarified whether their injuries were caused directly by the drones or by the explosions that followed.

Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said the attacks caused damage to private homes and civilian infrastructure in the cities of Domodedovo, Podolsk and Odintsovo. According to preliminary information, one person was injured in a fire that broke out in a private home, while another was injured after a drone crashed near a vehicle on the M-4 highway.

Footage posted on social media showed thick plumes of smoke rising over the city of Podolsk after an attack on an oil depot. Fires were also reported at a logistics center owned by the Wildberries company and at warehouses at the Yuzhnye Vorota logistics center, which were suspected to have been hit by Ukrainian drones.

The attack comes a day after a Russian ballistic missile attack on Kiev, which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described as one of the biggest since the start of the war. According to Ukrainian authorities, the attack killed one person and injured 16 others.

In recent months, Ukraine has increased drone attacks on Russian territory, mainly targeting energy facilities and oil infrastructure, with the aim of weakening Russia's ability to finance the war. /CNA
