Kurti appoints Agron Bajram as chief negotiator in the technical dialogue with

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has appointed Agron Bajrami to the position of chief negotiator in the technical dialogue for the normalization of relations with Serbia.

In addition to his new position, Bajrami is also Kosovo's ambassador to Belgium, in whose capital, Brussels, the European Union mediates the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

In February, a few days after the vote of the new Kosovo Government, the number two in the Kosovo executive, and also the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca, said that the dialogue process would be led by this ministry.

During the past governing mandate, at the political level, Kosovo was represented in the dialogue by the Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, and at the chief negotiator level by Besnik Bisilimi.

In recent years, Kosovo and Serbia have held a series of rounds of dialogue at the level of chief negotiators, but there have been no high-level political meetings since September 2023.

The last round of high-level dialogue took place just days before the armed attack in Banjska, Zvecan, when a group of armed Serbs killed a Kosovo policeman. Kosovo blames Serbia for the attack, but Belgrade denies any involvement.

Throughout years of dialogue, Kosovo and Serbia have reached a series of agreements, but not all of them have been implemented on the ground./REL
