Israel: Since October 7, about 50 Hezbollah targets in Syria have been hit

The Israeli military said on Saturday that since the outbreak of war in Gaza on October 7, it had struck more than 50 targets in Syria linked to the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah movement.

The statements were made at a press conference by the chief military spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, who spoke mainly on efforts to defeat Hezbollah attacks carried out in solidarity with Hamas. Israel is usually reserved to talk about operations in Syria.

" Wherever Hezbollah is, we will be there. We will take action wherever it is required in the Middle East ," Mr. Hagari said.

Israeli forces have struck 34,000 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, including 120 border surveillance posts, 40 missile and other weapons depots and more than 40 command centers, Rear Admiral Hagari said. He said that the number of people killed in the ranks of the enemy was more than 200 people.

Mr. Hagari said Israel had deployed three military divisions to the border with Lebanon in anticipation of Hezbollah's involvement after Palestinian Hamas launched a terrorist attack on October 7 that sparked the war in the Gaza Strip.

While tens of thousands of residents in the north have been evacuated, Israel has threatened to escalate fighting with Lebanon if Hezbollah does not withdraw from the border and has sought help from the West to find a diplomatic solution with Beirut./ VOA
