Iran could ignite a terrifying nuclear war "in the blink of an eye" and the West should not fear striking its facilities, a former US ambassador has warned.
Mark Wallace, a former US ambassador to the UN, told The Sun that as the world plunges further and further towards a global catastrophe.
He added that he said the world needs to wake up to the realization that Iran has its claws dangerously close to a nuclear weapon.
"Iran is determined to develop a nuclear weapon and sees that it is not being controlled in any way," he said.
Observers have long accused Iran of aggressively building up its uranium stockpile in violation of the 2015 nuclear deal aimed at curbing Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for an easing of international sanctions.
The pact began to unravel when former US President Donald Trump unilaterally abandoned it in 2018 and reinstated sanctions.
Iran denies it is trying to build nuclear weapons, but Wallace argued that Iran's nuclear program has "no other purpose" than producing a highly dangerous nuke. /CNA
