Israeli army attacks have destroyed the last bridge connecting South Lebanon to the rest of the country, cutting off tens of thousands of residents in the south from essential aid links.
Israeli forces launched two consecutive airstrikes on the Qasmiyeh bridge connecting the coastal city of Sidon with the southern city of Tyre, completely destroying it, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.
Israel has intensified deadly attacks in southern Lebanon in recent days - even as regional officials call for direct communication between Israeli and Lebanese leaders to end the violence.
Human rights defenders have repeatedly warned that Israeli attacks on vital infrastructure for civilians trying to access medical care, food and aid in Lebanon may constitute war crimes.
The conflict in Lebanon erupted from the US-Israeli war with Iran on March 2, when Iran-backed Hezbollah opened fire in support of Tehran, triggering an Israeli offensive in Lebanon just 15 months after the last major conflict. /CNA
