In Nice, the judicial process has started against 8 people, for their role in the terrorist attack of 2016, one of the most serious in the French state.

Six men and a woman have appeared in court accused of conspiring to help terrorists who drove a truck into a crowd on Bastille Day before being killed by police.

An eighth suspect, currently under arrest in Tunisia, is being tried in absentia.

“Erdha këtu për familjarët e humbur, por edhe për vete pasi kam përjetuar një tronditje të madhe emocionale në 6 vitet e fundit. Ndaj mendoj se është me rëndësi ardhja këtu, për të treguar se jemi ende gjallë. Është diçka që duhet bërë”, tha Laurence Bray, familjare e viktimave.

Mes të dyshuarve, 4 janë shtetas shqiptarë, 2 franko-tunizianë dhe 2 vetëm tunizianë. Tre prej tyre akuzohen për pjesëmarrje në celulë terroriste, ndërsa 5 për trafik armësh.

“Jam e stresuar, zemra më rreh fort dhe ndjej shumë dhimbje. Mezi e kam pritur këtë gjyq. 6 vjet mund të duken shumë, por janë koha e duhur për t’u bërë i fortë dhe për t’u përballur me këtë gjyq”, u shpreh Seloua Mensi, familjare e viktimave.

Prosecutors are seeking sentences ranging from 5 years to life in prison. The process is considered a "memorial moment" by the lawyers of the victims' families. It will last until December and former president François Hollande is also expected to speak during it./Euronews
