Wage strike/ Lufthansa wants a quick agreement with the unions

German airline Lufthansa said on Sunday it was keen to make progress in wage negotiations after the workers' union made demands conditional on avoiding further strikes.

"We have carefully followed the statements of the Verdi union and remain interested in a quick agreement," the company's spokesman told the Reuters news agency.

Lufthansa airport workers went on strike on Tuesday blocking work at major airports. This is the second case this month that the lack of employees on duty has affected the travel plans of 100,000 passengers, according to Lufthansa.

The first meeting related to the salary disputes of more than 25,000 employees ended without results on Thursday. The next meetings were announced to be held on March 13 or 14.

But the union said on Saturday that it was looking for a meeting before this deadline, in order to speed up an agreement./ VOA
