Bus goes off the road and ends up in a stream/ 14 people lose their lives

At least 14 people have died after a bus skidded off a rural road in Bolivia and plunged into a stream. The deadly accident occurred near the community of Mocomoko, in the western part of the Andean country. The bus was heading to the capital, La Paz, according to foreign media reports.

The initial death toll from the crash was at least seven, but that number doubled a few hours later. A police spokesman said residents rushed to the scene before rescue teams arrived and freed the victims, who were taken to La Paz and the neighboring city of El Alto.

The fate of the driver is unknown, while the causes of the accident remain unclear at this time. According to data from the Bolivian Interior Ministry, approximately 1,400 people lose their lives each year in traffic accidents, which are mainly attributed to driver negligence and mechanical defects. /CNA
