The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, held a press conference today on the decision-making of the base interest rate.

In his speech, Sejko said that the latest analysis of macroeconomic data shows that financial markets are calm.

Sejko added that according to forecasts, the inflation rate will return to the target set by the BoA in the first half of next year.

The Governor also mentioned uncertainty in the external sector as a risk factor for the country's economic development.

 "Thanks to monetary policy, financial markets are calm. Financing conditions remain accommodative, while private sector financing continues to expand further. The consolidation of domestic and external macroeconomic policies has strengthened the overall stability of the economy, creating the basis for its sustainable growth."

Forecasts suggest further growth in economic activity and a return of inflation to target in the first half of 2026. Uncertainty in the external sector remains a risk factor for domestic development. The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania assesses that the current monetary policy stance is appropriate for price stability.

"The accommodative financial environment marks an increase of 14%. The expansion of the loan portfolio has been diversified in terms of beneficiaries and loan destination," said Sejko./CNA
