Governor Sejko: SEPA, a new mechanism for Albanians for fast and secure money

Starting from October 7, 11 commercial banks in Albania will begin implementing cross-border payments in euros according to SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) standards.

The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, through a video message on social networks, focused on this innovation, stating that from this new mechanism, Albanian citizens and businesses will benefit significantly in terms of speed, security and cost of money transfers in euros.

"With SEPA, money transfers are fast, secure and cheaper. They can be made from anywhere in Europe and at any time. With SEPA there will be no more delays, complicated processes or high fees for cross-border Euro transfers," says Sejko.

What changes for citizens and businesses?

For outgoing electronic transfers worth up to 100 thousand euros, the commission cannot be higher than 0.01% of the value.

For outgoing electronic transfers worth over 100 thousand euros, the maximum fee is 25 euros.

The minimum commission that can be applied cannot be higher than 2 euros. For incoming electronic transfers of any value, the commission cannot be higher than 3 euros. /CNA
