The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodjan Braho, was present this Wednesday at the Commission for Civic Initiatives, where the agenda is the review of the draft resolution "On the evaluation of the activity of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) for the year 2025."  

Asked by the deputy chairman of the commission, Ermal Elezi, regarding the volume of SPAK's work, based on recently published reports, Braho stated that the current situation is affected by the staff shortage that the institution is facing, mainly for new investigators in the National Bureau of Investigation, but also by the need for legal advisors.

In his speech, the head of SPAK emphasized that the latest strategy approved for the smooth running of the work aims to reduce the backlog of cases, which according to him is also being observed with the reduction in the curve for the current period.

"The shortage of personnel is related to two aspects, mostly to the positions in the BKH that are still unfilled. There are 40 open positions for investigators. But in our assessment it is also related to the need for legal advisors for the prosecutors. Despite the fact that the 2026 report notes the increase in workload, SPAK has adopted a strategy for the cases that have been carried over. This period has also started to change the curve of cases and they are decreasing", - said Braho./ CNA
