Implementation of Criminal Amnesty/ Dozens of Convicts Leave Prisons in Korça

The implementation of the Criminal Amnesty in prison institutions has begun, with the first releases of persons who benefit from the reliefs approved by law.

In Drenova prison, 60 convicts have completed procedures and have been released, leaving the premises of this institution as of 08:00 this morning.

Meanwhile, at the women's institution in Pojska, 11 convicts have received immediate release, while 8 others have received a reduction of 1.5 years in prison.

The implementation of the amnesty is being extended to all prisons in the country, while authorities are continuing the process of verifying the files of persons who meet the specified conditions.

The new measures aim to ease the situation in the penitentiary system through the release of certain categories of prisoners and the reduction of the time they serve their sentences, while persons excluded from the law do not benefit from this scheme./ CNA
