Over the last 24 hours, Traffic Police services across the country have intensified controls and monitoring on road axes, with the aim of preventing dangerous behavior behind the wheel and guaranteeing the safest possible traffic for all road users.

As a result of the checks, 4,255 administrative measures were imposed for violations of road traffic rules.

8 drivers were arrested, 6 of whom were for drunk driving and 2 for driving without a license.

During the monitoring, cases of speeding beyond the allowed limits, incorrect parking and other violations that violate road safety were identified.

In urban areas, 1,530 administrative measures have been imposed for illegal parking, while with the use of State Police lifting vehicles, vehicles parked in dedicated lanes and on sidewalks, which were obstructing the free movement of citizens, have been removed.

On national road axes, 1,331 administrative measures have been imposed for exceeding the permitted speed limit, one of the main factors that affects the aggravation of the consequences of road accidents.

Also punished were:

332 drivers for not wearing a protective helmet;

126 drivers for not wearing seat belts;

66 drivers for using a mobile phone while driving;

166 drivers for wrong overtaking;

27 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol;

11 drivers for noise and dangerous maneuvers in urban centers;

494 managers for other violations identified during monitoring.

The Traffic Police Directorate, taking into account the increased traffic flow during the weekend towards coastal and tourist areas, has increased the presence of field services, patrols on national axes and monitoring with intelligent means./ CNA
