"Protests have hit the government"/ Kikia: Ministers and MPs do not

Journalist and analyst Mentor Kikia spoke today about the protests that have been taking place in the country for 52 days. Invited to Euronews Albania, Kikia said that this government is constitutionally legitimate but morally has fallen.

He further said that the government has suffered a major blow and according to him, this is reflected in the nervousness of Socialist MPs in parliament and what Kikia described as a division within the Socialist Party.

"This government is constitutionally legitimate because it has 84 mandates, but morally it has fallen. Ministers and MPs cannot walk freely on the streets because they feel insulted, not because of the aggressiveness of society but because they have been morally delegitimized.  I think that politics is not sustained by the number of mandates. Morality is much more powerful and important than constitutionality.

"The government has suffered a major blow and this has been reflected in parliament with nervousness, but also division within the SP where one group has positioned itself aggressively against the protest and another part is totally silent. All this proves that things are not entirely normal within the SP", said Kikia. /CNA
