Appeal to the Supreme Court/ SPAK triumphs against Veliaj

Today, a hearing was held at the High Court on the appeal filed by the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who is facing 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses.

Erion Veliaj has appealed the decision to suspend his pre-trial detention.

The Supreme Court has rejected Veliaj's appeal, leaving in force the decision to suspend the pre-trial detention periods.

This is another lost battle for Erion Veliaj and a "punch in the face" for him, as the Supreme Court rules that the decision to suspend pre-trial detention is fair.

We recall that Erion Veliaj has been left in prison by all levels of courts.

He is accused of 9 counts of corruption, abuse of office, laundering the proceeds of crime, concealing assets, and bringing prohibited items into the cell./ CNA
