"Strategic investors, Rama's clientele"/ Këlliçi: No

The Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party, Belind Këlliçi, spoke this evening from the protest square regarding the rallies taking place in the country and the current political situation.

In a live broadcast with Syri TV, Këlliçi stated that parliament is refusing to discuss the protesters' 5 demands and the real problems that Albania has.

Among other things, he said that strategic investors are the close circle of clientele and criminal groups linked to the prime minister, as according to him, no large company has benefited from this status.

"The circumstances are such that they forced us not to go there to be used as a facade for Edi Rama's government to hide the problems that the country has today. For 52 days, there has been a continuous protest. There are 5 demands of the protesters, starting with the resignation of the Prime Minister, the repeal of the Mountain Package, the repeal of the changes to the law on cultural heritage, the repeal of the changes to the law on Protected Areas, the repeal of the law on strategic investors.

The strategic investors in this country are the close circle of the Prime Minister's clientele and criminal groups. No large company has benefited from this status. As long as the parliament refuses to make these 5 demands part of the debate in the Assembly hall, it is useless for the opposition MPs to go to that hall.

There is another absurdity. It is impossible for the EP to adopt a resolution on the problems of this square and for Albania on June 17 and for the Albanian Parliament to not say a word about this issue. On Monday's session, the reports of the justice institutions were on the agenda, and on the other hand, on Thursday, the normative act will come with which Edi Rama will give 4.2 million euros to Kanye West and the state budget will be treated as the portfolio of the prime minister. The misuse of 4.2 million euros at the Kanye West concert has been reported to SPAK. A report has also been filed for the book "The Albanian Files", said the deputy leader of the DP.

Këlliçi also raised concerns about the investigations of some of the largest corruption cases in the country, highlighting the Tirana incinerator case and the "5D" file, saying that no official has yet been arrested for them.

"Look at the Tirana incinerator. Based on SPAK's own statement, a fraction of this file has been brought to trial. It results from SPAK's own investigations that at least 110 million euros have been stolen and there is no senior state official who is in prison. The same thing with 5D, Veliaj's entire electoral headquarters in 2023 was found to have stolen 30 million euros of public money and none of them is in prison," said Këlliçi. /CNA
