How the DP mocked the candidacies for the People's Advocate

The Democratic Party and its leader, Sali Berisha, made fun of the candidacies for the People's Advocate. They made fun of two of the most serious figures who announced their candidacies for the People's Advocate.

One of them was Adriana Kalaja, a lawyer who was part of the Democratic Party (DP), who filed a number of complaints and was in opposition. The lawyer, who as part of the DP, defended a number of causes in favor of the party she belonged to.

We recall that it was Adriana Kalaja who filed a complaint with SPAK against Tërmet Peçi for corruption and abuse of reconstruction tenders, citing an affair that amounted to 66 million euros. After Kalaja's complaint, Tërmet Peçi was summoned to SPAK.

Not only that. Adriana Kalaja has reported judge Irena Gjoka to SPAK for fraud in the vetting process.

Adriana Kalaja has also submitted to the US embassy the complete file of Judge Irena Gjoka, whom the opposition accuses of fraud in relation to her conviction in Greece and concealment of assets.

Lawyer Adriana Kalaja has also filed a complaint with SPAK against Constitutional Court judge Marsida Xhaferllari, whom she said had a conflict of interest in reviewing the opposition's lawsuit regarding the Rama-Meloni agreement.

The lawyer has also denounced Prime Minister Rama to SPAK.

In November 2024, lawyer Adriana Kalaja reported Erion Veliaj's wife, Ajola Xoxa, to SPAK for the "NAAN" villa, a building whose rent was 25 thousand euros, but which had been given to Ajola Xoxa for free by the owners.

Adriana Kalaja, on behalf of the Democratic Party, has also reported to SPAK the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, and the former head of the Municipality of Mat, Agron Malaj, for corruption and illegal benefit from tenders.

The above are just some of the allegations made by Adriana Kalaja on behalf of the Democratic Party. Kalaja morally deserves the support of the DP more than anyone else, but they do not have the courage and the guts to tell her to her face that they do not support her.

The mockery of the DP and Berisha continues with Besim Ndregjoni, the name that has been twisted by the democratic leader since the discussion began about the election of the People's Advocate. In the case of Besim Ndregjoni, there is something impossible for him to be elected People's Advocate. The name that is elected People's Advocate must be a maximum of 70 years old, while Ndregjoni is 73 years old. Taking into account the legal provisions that the People's Advocate enjoys the immunity and salary of a high court judge who retires at the age of 70.

However, the Democratic Party continues to mock Besim Ndregjoni and does not have the courage to tell him to his face that he should withdraw from this race because he is overage.

The DP puts problematic names on the list for the People's Advocate, people who result in SPAK's investigative files. Someone had their husband under arrest for ties to Shijak gangs and has no personal contribution or has practiced the profession of lawyer, she simply worked as a lecturer.

Another name proposed by the DP is under investigation by SPAK for fictitious invoices related to the "Bankers" affair and has no contribution to civil cases. Professional in the private sector, but without any civil cases.

The other DP candidate turns out to be an employee in the justice system who was dismissed from the vetting process for substantial unjustified wealth.

Meanwhile, another name proposed and supported by the Democratic Party has no record of involvement in public causes or of having practiced the profession of lawyer. He has simply established a platform.

Meanwhile, according to the Law on the Ombudsman, candidates must meet several criteria, the most important of which are to be distinguished for professional skills and a clean ethical and moral figure, and to have outstanding knowledge and activities in the field of human rights and freedoms and the law.

The Democratic Party has turned the election of the People's Advocate into a comedy, a mockery of its own people. A mocking behavior towards the people who contribute to the DP and work in favor of the party./CNA
