New Israeli attacks in Gaza / Six killed, including an Al Jazeera journalist

A series of Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have left at least six people dead, including an Al Jazeera television cameraman and a child, according to reports from health officials and rescue teams.

Al Jazeera has strongly condemned the killing of journalist Ahmed Wishah, who was killed in a residential building in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. In a statement, the network described the incident as a "flagrant violation of international law" and a systematic policy to silence the voice of truth.

On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have made serious accusations, claiming that Wishah was a "sniper operative for the military wing of Hamas." Along with him, two other people were killed in the same attack, whom the IDF also accused of being members of Hamas.

In another incident, four members of the same family were killed in an attack that hit a house in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City overnight. According to testimonies from relatives and doctors, the victims include two women and two children.

Relatives of the stricken family have denied any connection to militant groups. "They are just innocent children, they have no connection to Hamas," said Nael Safadi, a relative of the family, asking ironically whether what is happening can really be called a "ceasefire."

Since the ceasefire came into effect last October, figures show that over 1,000 people have lost their lives in Gaza. Although humanitarian aid has increased, somewhat alleviating the hunger crisis, the situation remains critical. According to the UN, 70% of the population still needs shelter, while essential services are on the verge of collapse.

The ceasefire agreement provides for the disarmament of Hamas, the relinquishment of Gaza's governance, and the progressive withdrawal of Israeli forces, but the process is facing major difficulties.

Tensions remain high, as both sides accuse each other of continuing violations of the agreement, while the total death toll in Gaza since October 2023 has exceeded 73,000. /CNA
