A gala evening that focused on the vision and people who are turning Shkodra more and more into a desired tourist destination took place at the "Migjeni" Theater in Shkodra.

The "Shkodra Tourism Awards" initiative, by Gentian Ferhati, an expert in marketing, media and tourism image development, focused on the role of entrepreneurship, innovation and institutional cooperation in the development of local tourism.

"Tonight we are not gathered simply to award prizes, we are here to reflect on a journey and to motivate a sector that in recent years has been following contemporary trends. Statistics show a sustainable tourism development. A strong signal that the city is gaining confidence as a competitive destination. Today we are here to celebrate this," said Ferhati.

"Shkodra is going through its best moments in terms of positivity, energy, investments and economic development. INSTAT has ranked Shkodra as 2 of the cities with the greatest development in the tourism sector. We are focusing on the green city, development of the Alps, as well as the development of cultural heritage. We are grateful to businesses because we know that without you it is difficult to achieve achievements", said Rudin Beka, Deputy Mayor of Shkodra Municipality.

During the evening, businesses and initiatives operating in the fields of tourism, hospitality, culinary, adventure and innovation were recognized, as essential links of a city that knows how to welcome and offer quality to visitors.

"I personally do not see tourism only as an enterprise and a source of income. I see it as a movement that can bring everyone together. Agrotourism, especially rural tourism, I believe has brightened Albania's face and given it extraordinary promotion in the international media," said MP Marjana Koçeku.

"Shkodra is an open gateway to unforgettable experiences. It is difficult to find a tourist who has come once and does not want to return to Shkodra again," said the Prefect of Shkodra District, Holta Duda.

A special moment of the evening was the awarding of the title of gratitude to the University of Shkodra. In his speech, Rector Tonin Gjuraj praised not only this initiative, but also the clear path that Shkodra has taken towards sustainable tourism development.

A total of 30 awards were given, as a sign of gratitude to entrepreneurs who invest with passion, professionals who set new standards, and ideas that make Shkodra more visitable, more appealing, and more competitive on the country's tourist map. /CNA
