The Minister of State for Europe at the Federal Foreign Office, Gunther Krichbaum, held a series of meetings today in Tirana, starting with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption Adea Pirdeni, Deputy Foreign Minister Megi Fino, the co-chairs of the National Council for European Integration, Taulant Balla and Jorida Tabaku, the chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi, and the head of the Special Prosecution Office SPAK Klodian Braho.

Krichbaum emphasized that Germany is a friend and critic of Albania as it will see it in the EU.

The German minister underlined that Albania is currently at a crucial moment and the path towards the EU must be moved forward with determination.

Krichbaum stated that this is done by implementing the next reforms in the field of the rule of law and continuing the fight against corruption and organized crime.

"Because we want to see Albania in the European Union, we are at the same time a friend, supporter and critic on its path towards the EU. We see the enormous potential and efforts of Albania for reforms, but also the national, regional and international challenges in the EU accession process. For this reason too, it was important for me to hold direct talks with the Albanian government, parliament and judiciary.

Albania is currently at a crucial moment: the path towards the EU must be taken forward with determination, by firmly implementing in this context the next reforms, especially in the area of ??the rule of law, and the unwavering fight against organized crime and corruption.

"This requires a courageous continuation of the path of reforms, as well as the involvement, but also the constructive interaction of all actors and institutions within the framework of their constitutional responsibilities," the German minister emphasized./ CNA
