A court hearing was held at the Special Court against former President Ilir Meta and former MP Monika Kryemadhi, where the defense objected to part of the evidence presented by SPAK.

The hearing was held with the presence of both defendants, while Ilir Meta's lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, requested that some evidence be declared inadmissible, claiming that it was obtained illegally.

According to the defense, some of the materials cannot serve as a basis for an indictment, as they were obtained without respecting legal procedures or a court order. This list includes, according to them, television interviews, a 2009 SMS, videotaped recordings and arbitration decisions.

Lawyer Cakrani also argued that the initial complaint was not directly related to Ilir Meta and that his inclusion in the file was made later. He added that at the time of some of the allegations, Meta did not hold an executive function, but was an opposition MP.

The argument that the file is inflated was also used in the hearing, stating that the case of the century is summarized in 15 pages, while the rest is filler, a statement that the defense links to claims of a politically motivated trial.

On the other hand, the defense requested the exclusion of some key evidence from the file, emphasizing that they were obtained from private sources and without full judicial verification.

The court is expected to next examine the requests for the inadmissibility of evidence, while the process is considered part of one of the most important files investigated by SPAK in recent years./ CNA
