Cow milk production increases, small animal production decreases

The Institute of Statistics has published data for 2025 on changes in the structure of milk collection and processing.

According to the report, the total amount of milk collected by processing entities has reached around 101 thousand tons, marking an increase of 6.9% compared to 2024.

Data analysis shows that this overall growth was driven by cow's milk, which remains the dominant category. The quantity of cow's milk reached 84 thousand tons, marking an increase of 12.5% ??compared to the previous year.

In stark contrast to this trend, the small animal milk sector has experienced a significant contraction. Sheep milk has suffered the biggest decline, falling to 9,000 tonnes, which translates into a decrease of 21.1%.

The same negative trend was observed in goat milk, which fell to around 8 thousand tons, marking a decrease of 4.3%.

These changes indicate a shift in the processing industry towards a higher reliance on cow's milk, while sheep and goat milk volumes are continuing to decline in the market. /CNA
