Journalist Mentor Kikia raised a concern today regarding stratospheric prices at coastal restaurants in the south of the country.
In a post on the social network "Facebook", Kikia writes that the bill is too high for 90% of Albanians.
According to the journalist, the only solution is to review the bill, as even institutional intervention cannot bring about change.
"So that we no longer deal with "restaurant tracts"!"
Someone posted this bill today, from a coastal restaurant in the south of the country. Looking at the prices and products, I can say that they are too high for 90% of Albanians.
What is the solution?
Can the municipality set prices for this restaurant so that it is lower? No!
Can we make a petition to force the owner to lower it? No!
Can we say a prayer to touch his soul, you idiot? No!
Can we make negative comments and "take away the stars"? No, there's no reason!
What we can do is:
Sit at the table, ask for the menu. Don't let the waiter tell you, "Let me tell you what we have." Look at the prices, and if you can't afford them, close the menu, get up from the table, and go to a place with more affordable prices.
He is a merchant. If he finds customers to buy an egg for 100 Euros, he will sell it. If he doesn't lower the price and there are no customers, let him eat it himself.
But, if he deceives you, by writing "100 lek" on the menu and "1,000 lek" on the bill, then not only "negative comments", but also a report to the tax authorities, the police, and even the "UN, you should go".
Then, if the business is committing tax evasion (like this non-fiscal invoice), is evading taxes, etc., reporting it here is a civic duty and the responsible state authorities must consider any information," Kikia writes. /CNA
