The Italian government has confirmed that the reception centers for asylum seekers and the processing of their requests in Shengjin e Gjadër will operate starting from August 10.

The prefabricated houses for their housing will arrive in Albania on July 30 and then it will take at least 10 days for their assembly and suitability for the living of asylum seekers.

During the visit to Gjadër, the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni declared that the immigrant camps in Albania would be in full operation on August 1.

Meanwhile, in the Court of Rome, work continues on the assembly of 10 mega screens that will serve to review the asylum requests of Afika immigrants in a videoconference from Gjadri.

There, 22 judges will examine their asylum requests within 28 days. The agreement between Rama and Meloni has brought the first positive effects.

The number of landings on Italian shores is decreasing. The arrivals of asylum seekers in the Italian territory from North Africa in the month of June are only one third of those registered in the same month of 2023.

The operation in Gjadër e Shengjin will cost the Italian government at least 700 million Euros./ CNA
