Free flu vaccination has started today as the most efficient tool and the best protection against respiratory viruses caused by the flu virus. This year, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has provided 20,000 doses more than a year ago and will continue to be administered to risk groups according to a calendar determined by the health structures.

The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, was at the Health Center No. 6 in Tirana where, after receiving the flu vaccine herself, she appealed to all citizens, especially those with chronic diseases, to get the vaccine for free at the Health Centers.

"You go to the Health Centers to get the flu vaccine and live a healthy winter without viruses and, above all, without the complications that viruses bring. So get vaccinated now," she appealed.

The minister stated that within the framework of the National Vaccination Program, 280,000 vaccine doses have already been distributed throughout the country.

She added that some groups benefit from free vaccination, adding that it is the most efficient way to prevent and minimize the risk of complications from fall-winter viruses.

The groups for which the flu vaccine is recommended are children 6 months to 12 years old, health workers, teachers, police officers, people suffering from chronic diseases, pregnant women and citizens over 60 years old./ CNA
