Tomorrow, opposition protest/ Police take measures, some road axes are

Tirana Police have announced that they have taken measures to guarantee order and the smooth running of the protest to be held on May 8, at 7:00 PM, by the opposition, announcing temporary traffic restrictions on several main axes of the capital.

According to the official announcement, from 11:45 p.m. on May 7 until the end of the rally, traffic will be blocked and parking of vehicles will not be allowed on the segment of the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, from "Ura e Dajti" to "Ismail Qemali" street.

Meanwhile, from 3:00 PM on May 8, vehicle traffic will be prohibited on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior of Albania to "Mother Teresa" Square, as well as on "Ukraine e Lirë", "Papa John Paul II" and "Ismail Qemali" streets.

The police have called on the organizers to respect the time and place set for the rally, while asking for citizens' understanding regarding the restrictions on movement.

Authorities have also appealed to citizens to distance themselves from any illegal actions that may violate public order and security.

"Representatives of the political entity Democratic Party of Albania have notified the Tirana Police of the holding of a rally, on 08.05.2026, at 19:00, on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, in front of the Prime Minister's Office building.

Based on the law "On Gatherings", Tirana Police has taken measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the gathering at the requested location and time frame.

In implementation of these measures, today and tomorrow, movement will be restricted on several road axes/segments, specifically:

from 23:45 on 07.05.2026 until the end of the rally, traffic will be blocked and parking of vehicles will not be allowed on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, from the place called "Ura e Dajtit" to "Ismail Qemali" street;

From 15:00 on 08.05.2026 until the end of the rally, there will be a traffic jam on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior to "Mother Teresa" Square, as well as on "Free Ukraine", "Papa John Paul II" and "Ismail Qemali" streets.

Tirana Police appeals to the organizers of the rally to respect the deadline and the place where the rally will take place, and asks for citizens' understanding regarding the restriction of vehicle movement.
