The pressure of the Veliaj-Ndreca duo/ Control mechanisms as a "rubber

In a move that clearly demonstrates the use of the media as a means of pressure on justice, Erion Veliaj's defendant lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, appeared at a media conference this Thursday, exactly one day before the court session at the Administrative Court against prosecutor Ols Dado.

This public appearance, scheduled on the eve of the session, was used to level accusations regarding the progress of the trial of the mayor of Tirana in the Administrative Court, while the pressure went so far that the defendant's lawyer of another defendant requested that control mechanisms against the court be activated, an open pressure on the judiciary being exerted by lawyer Ndreca and the mayor arrested for 13 charges and 5 serious criminal offenses, Erion Veliaj.

"Allegations of illegal influence and attempted corruption have also been publicly articulated with the aim of ensuring that this issue never reaches substantive consideration. In any serious state of law, allegations of this nature would be minimally sufficient to immediately activate institutional mechanisms of verification and control ," said Ndreca.

The pressure from the Veliaj-Ndreca duo has crossed every ethical limit, now officially demanding the institutional handcuffing of the judicial body. Through an absurd request for the activation of control mechanisms, the defendant's lawyer is not seeking justice, but is using the institutions as a rubber baton over the judges' heads, just 24 hours before the verdict is delivered.

Initially, strong doubts were raised about why the Municipality of Tirana was involved in a lawsuit that is a personal matter of Erion Veliaj. Further, the defense has asked the municipality's staff to participate in Friday's trial, a move that reveals a clear attempt to create artificial pressure in the courtroom, similar to the siege of the GJKKO during the Erion Veliaj trial. And now, in an act that challenges the logic of the rule of law, a defendant from SPAK like Plarent Ndreca, dares to show the court "control mechanisms".

Who is putting pressure on the court? In fact, Plarent Ndreca and Erion Veliaj are putting pressure on the court, because we are not seeing any reaction from the Prosecutors' Association, from the prosecutors themselves, or from the prosecutors' lawyers in this matter. Plarent Ndreca appears at a press conference without the court expressing its opinion. Isn't this pressure on the court?! The municipality staff is asked to participate in the trial. Isn't this pressure on the court?! He appears at the conference and demands the activation of the control mechanism. Isn't this pressure on the court?!

After failing to intimidate SPAK prosecutors, the next strategy is to terrorize the court through inspection. By demanding the activation of control mechanisms right on the eve of the session, Ndreca has openly declared the 'tightening of the noose' on the Administrative Court.

Plarent Ndreca came out to the press conference and put pressure on the court and then says the court is being pressured. If there is a fact that the court is being pressured, this is lawyer Plarent Ndreca, the SPAK defendant , who came out a day before the court's decision at a press conference. Isn't this pressure on the court?! Why didn't he keep quiet, go to the hearing, wait for the court's decision?!

Or was the whole strategy, let's file a lawsuit, let's go to this prosecutor, because we have nothing in our hands. At least let's hold some press conferences, call the staff, gather people, like the pressure they put on when they surrounded the GJKKO when Erion Veliaj was arrested.

While Ndreca speaks of a lack of transparency, his actions demonstrate a media strategy used due to the lack of other facts at hand, making the lawyer the person who is exerting the very pressure he publicly denounces./CNA
