"Corruption is undermining the state"/ Topalli: Today's draft

Democratic Party MP Jozefina Topalli said during her speech in the Assembly that corruption is the biggest enemy of Albanians. Topalli also said that this government is undermining the state and the process of integration into the European Union.

The MP added, among other things, that the draft laws included in today's session's agenda are the opposite of what the integration process requires.

"Albania's biggest enemy is corruption. Albania's biggest enemy is the one who, for the sake of office, undermines the integration process. Albania would have been completely different in the integration process if your president in 2013 had not refused to vote on the three famous laws that Brussels demanded.

I heard that those who were before had not included Albania at any table. It is actually unbelievable to hear such phrases. Who included Albania in NATO? Who liberalized Albanian visas? Who signed the stabilization-association? Who included Albania in the Council of Europe? Who included Albania in the OSCE? It is a story of titanic efforts in fact, to reform everything, first in our minds and then in the Albanian reality, Albanian institutions, the political, economic, state life of the country. For some years now, people have not been working for the state, they are working only for power.

Can you tell me, why we Albania have only opened chapters, while Montenegro has closed them or is closing them? Montenegro has closed many chapters. Why is it ahead of us and we are behind? What is the reason that we are so behind Montenegro, when we were so far ahead of Montenegro?

I'll tell you this. Recently, and this is the main reason in fact, many media outlets have been talking about Albania and talking mainly about the problem of corruption. Yes, corruption is not just theft. Corruption is the undermining of the state, and without a state, forget that there is integration. Yes, without a state, there is no economic or political life. You want to reform the foreign service. This is a beautiful sentence too. I would like to ask you for one thing. Is it possible to remove from your representations around the world the sisters and brothers of the criminal groups that you have introduced there? Start, this does not require legal changes. In a way, we are at least cleaning up the facade, since you work a lot with the facade. Today itself and all the projects that you have introduced into the agenda, into the calendar and into the program of the parliament, are the opposite of what the integration process requires ," Topalli said, among other things, in the plenary session. /CNA
