Haxhinasto demands urgent changes to the Highway Code after the tragedy in

Democratic Party MP, Edmond Haxhinasto, has requested immediate intervention in the Highway Code after the tragic accident in Durrës, where two minors lost their lives.

Haxhinasto stated that the legal changes should have been made urgently, emphasizing that in certain cases institutions have acted even faster for other legal acts.

"The initiative to amend the Code should be immediate. We are witnesses that the Constitution has changed in 48 hours. The Code should be amended within 24 hours to strengthen measures so that yesterday's Durrës event does not repeat itself. Driving while intoxicated is an attempted murder at any second. An accident resulting in death is a premeditated murder. We need to reflect on the investments made in public infrastructure. Road policing, the criteria for issuing licenses must be strengthened. The quality of testing of new drivers must be strengthened. The lives of Albanians are being reduced by emigration and the decline in the population. Let's not treat life as if we have too many", said Haxhinasto./ CNA
