Today, the second trial session on the merits is being held for the mayor arrested on 13 charges for 5 serious criminal offenses, Erion Veliaj, his wife Ajola Xoxa, as well as the other 28 defendants.

The March 9 hearing was postponed due to Veliaj's schemes, who requested to be familiar with the investigative acts.

For this reason, it was decided at the session to send him 61 thousand pages of the investigative file.

Even after this decision, Veliaj has used his schemes and scenarios, with the sole purpose of postponing hearings and continuing to drag out trials.

CNA reported that contrary to what was reported in the media, 61,000 pages of the investigative file were handed over to Veliaj on March 10, materials which the arrested mayor initially refused to accept, clashing with prison officers.

On March 10, officers went to the Durrës prison premises in the morning to hand over all the complete materials, the investigative files of more than 60 thousand pages, to the mayor Erion Veliaj, but the mayor refused to take them and verbally clashed with the officers, swearing and threatening them, asking where the court decision was, why they had brought these documents so quickly, taking harsh stances and creating clashes.

The next day, after perhaps consulting with his lawyers or third parties, Mayor Veliaj, who is in Durrës prison on 13 serious criminal charges, communicated with the director of Durrës prison, asking him to make the materials available to him and to call the officers again and hand them over to him with a report.

The materials were immediately made available to the officers, to whom Erion Veliaj had not told anything.

Erion Veliaj continues to use various technicalities and machinations to postpone court hearings.
